Audition Technique: Monologues
In this 5-week course, students will be introduced to monologues and learn what they are used for, where they come from, what types of monologues are needed for auditions, and how to prepare and perform monologues. Students will learn some terminology and acting concepts that actors use to breakdown monologues as they work on them. Students will explore goals, actions/tactics, the moment before, personalization, and more! During class, students will receive assistance in choosing both comic and dramatic monologues that fit their age-range and type! Each student will receive individual coaching to help prepare these monologues for use in upcoming auditions. In addition to working on their monologues, students will participate in a group acting warm-up or game each class.
Students will also learn some general tips on performing comedy and performing drama. For the last class, students will be allowed to invite family and friends to attend the online class and watch as they perform their monologues in a final class Monologue Showcase!
