Understanding Yourself and Others
Everyone has the ability to create positive and long-lasting friendships in their lives. This course helps students to develop an awareness of unconscious behaviours, such as determining what makes a good friend, make rocky relationships, making assumptions, and managing emotions during stressful times. Students will analyze characters from a variety of sources to build their emotional awareness and learn how to communicate with empathy.
The Relationships that Rock! unit involves lots of discussions, partner work, and evaluation of both written and visual text. For rocky relationships, students will use graphic organizers, games, and dramatic performances to demonstrate their enhanced understanding of different perspectives and communication skills.
